I know, I know - I've been a bit lax in my posts recently, but this has mainly been because I've been writing my arse off and getting ready for Gallifrey One / my LA trip which is in only a week now. And a lot of the pre-planning that goes into the work beforehand, including the brainstorming of the ideas that I'll be pitching while I'm there in Hollywood. Ideas, positive brainworms that have crawled screaming from the fertile minds of both myself and Daniel Boultwood.

Those who know the history of Dan & I know the history we have, the birth of 'Two Drunk Guys In A Bar Productions' and the stories that we have created, including The Gloom (first out in 2005, then online at the now defunt Chemistry Set, now about to come out late 2010 as a redesigned GN from Arcana Publishing), Hope Falls (out in 2007/8 from Markosia, collected GN can be ordered from Amazon.co.uk), The Prince Of Baghdad (continual story in the now lost to us The DFC, hopefully coming out collected at some point), The Doppleganger Chronicles (out from Tyndale House) and the upcoming adaptations of the Anthony Horowitz stories The Phone Goes Dead, Scared, The Hitchhiker and Killer Camera, out Fall 2010 from Hachette Children's Books (or at least a subsidiary, Franklin Watts). So as you can see, we have a lot of work that we've done together, and even more that haven't been released or even announced.

While I'm in LA, my wonderful agents at the ACME Management Company are sorting me a variety of studio meetings, and obviously I've seen The Player, right? So I know how to arrive, what to bring with me. And so this weekend I had a chance to sit with Dan and brainstorm some ideas. Now, the problem was however that we brainstormed while en route to the Phonogram 2 Wrap Party, which meant we worked these ideas out while downing black sambucca shots and a variety of differing spirits. The creative process is always beneficial this way - or at least a damn sight more fun.

Suffice to say, we've come up with several plans of attack and stories that haven't made it to publication yet, including FaerieTale and Meet The Evils have taken on new life as we drank more continued to work out the best way to tell the story.

The greatest thing about this job is the various options open to a creator - if we don't sell the project to a large studio, there's a TV studio. If they're not interested, we can make a comic book. Or we can release it through a book publisher as a graphic novel. Or an iPhone app. Or a web comic. The list is changing and growing every single day. So even if we don't get anything from the meetings? Well, there are always always other options.

And with The Gloom coming out and Shotgun Samurai still being plotted out for Arcana, we're not stopping any time soon...
